Domestic abuse is a pattern of abusive and controlling behaviour. Your partner, ex-partner or family member may want to control every aspect of your life from where you go, who you see and what you spend. It affects all types of gender, age, religious belief, sexual orientation, race and disability.
Any incident or pattern of incidents of controlling,coercive or threatening behaviour, violence or abuse between those 16 or over who are or who have been intimate partners or family members regardless of gender or sexuality.This can encompass but is not limitied to the following types of abuse: psychlogoical, physical, emotional, sexual, financial.
This includes so called honour based violence, female gential mutilation and forced marriage, and is clear that victims are not confined to one gender or ethnic groups.
