How can I make myself safe?

As a victim you do not have control over your partner’s violence, but there are ways that may help to reduce the potential for harm.

A safety plan is a tool to assist in identifying things that you can do and can limit the harm brought to both you and your children.

There is no right or wrong way to develop a safety plan.  Use what applies to your circumstances and make it your own. If you write it down ask to see if friends or family can keep a copy for you.

However, whether or not it’s safe to write the plan down, it's still important to think, discuss and make one.
